Sad news from the metal community this morning, as Suicide Silence frontman Mitch Lucker has passed away from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident Halloween night in California.
While official confirmation of Lucker’s death has yet to come as of the time of this article, the band’s Facebook page gave us the following status update late Thursday morning.
“There’s no easy way to say this. Mitch passed away earlier this morning from injuries sustained during a motorcycle accident. This is completely devastating to all of us and we offer our deepest condolences to his family. He will be forever in our hearts.
R.I.P. Mitchell Adam Lucker – We Love You Brother”
Suicide Silence had released three albums over the past five years, the most recent being the critically acclaimed “The Black Crown.” As one of the most admired and respected units of the deathcore genre, Lucker’s death comes at the height of the band’s popularity.
As one of this author’s admired artists, the loss of Lucker is sobering, unfortunate, and premature. The metal world has lost one of its torch bearers. Lucker’s energy, enthusiasm and powerful stage presence will sorely be missed.
The Social Nutwork would like to send our thoughts and condolences to the band, Lucker’s family, and all the fans who are dealing with this tragic event. More details as they become available.
